Motivation:

The need to deepen my research interests and strengthen my methodological skills in an international context led me to apply for a PhD Programme on Pharmaceutical Policy and Regulation.

Education and experience:

After graduating in pharmacy and specializing in hospital pharmacy, I worked for more than 15 years in the hospital pharmacy at the University Hospital of Verona (Italy).  Then I moved to the Italian Medicines Agency in Rome (Italy) as Head of the International Affairs Department, and since 2021 I have also been a member of the Committee for Orphan Medicinal Products (COMP) at the European Medicines Agency (EMA) in Amsterdam (The Netherlands). I am also a professional PhD candidate with the Utrecht Centre for Pharmaceutical Policy and Regulation.

Orphan drugs and global health

PhD project description:

My research project focuses on the intersection between the development of drugs for rare diseases and the analysis of pharmaceutical policies from a global perspective.
