Over 80 people with a wide range of professional backgrounds, organisations and countries attended this year’s UU-WHO Winter Meeting. On the first day, (young) researchers were given the opportunity to discuss their work with peers. In total, 20 researchers presented their research in the fields of regulatory science, access to medicines and pharmaceutical pricing and reimbursement. These interactive presentation sessions led to multiple fruitful discussions. We sincerely hope that these discussions will contribute to bringing pharmaceutical policy analyses and evidence-based policy making on pharmaceuticals to a higher level. At the end of the first day one of the Centre’s PhD students, Haggar Hilda Ampadu, successfully defended her thesis entitled “Evolving national pharmacovigilance systems in Africa”.
The second day focused on “Access to medicines for children: Clinical, policy and regulatory aspects”. The presentations covered all relevant aspects on how to improve access to efficacious, safe and affordable medicines for children. A video of all presentations is available here. After the Winter Meeting, Prof. dr. Aukje Mantel Teeuwisse accepted her appointment as professor of Pharmacy and Global Health at the Utrecht University. A video of her inaugural lecture is available here. Please not that the lecture is held in Dutch.
